Dave, Thanks for the post.

There are three questions about Terabeam that bother me.

1. Just what is it about this technology that is unique, if anything?

2. Where is the market? Isn't the last mile (intracity) now adequately served by copper, ie DSL, T2, T3, etc?

3. Aside from a captive market for hardware, should this market ever materialize, what is the attraction for Lucent?

4. Is Lucent risking another black eye?

5. Isn't the tap dancing, hand waving, and hype a perfect setup for a shareholder bloodbath?

Regards,

Jack Hutchison

PS: I once asked my Physics professor to quantify an "erg". His response was, "An erg is the amount of energy used by a fly doing his morning pushup." On this basis, the marketing (and, more importantly, stock) hype can be expressed by teraergs. Hence, the Tera in Terabeam.
