Eicon Technology Verifies Interoperability With Leading DSLAM Vendors' Equipment
MONTREAL, QUEBEC-- JUNE 28, 2000
Eicon's DIVA 2430 and DIVA ADSL USB Offer Full DSLAM Interoperability, Reducing Customer Premise Installation Time and Costs
Eicon Technology recently demonstrated full interoperability of its DIVA 2430 Ethernet+USB Modem and DIVA ADSL USB with Full-Rate ADSL equipment (up to 8 Mbps) from leading DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) manufacturers. These include: Advance Fiber Communications, Alcatel, Cisco Systems, ECI Telecom (Hi-Focus), ECI Telecom (Pulse-Comm), Ericsson, Fujitsu Network Communications, NEC, Newbridge Networks, Next Level Communications, Nokia, Nortel Networks, Orckit Communications, PairGain Technologies, Paradyne, Samsung Telecommunications and Siemens.
Until now, widespread Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) product interoperability has been a major telecommunications industry challenge, due to the number of DSLAM vendors and the wide variety of available equipment. This has made it very difficult for telephone companies to cost-effectively deploy the high-speed Internet access technology and for consumers to successfully install and use ADSL as the broadband Internet access option of choice.
With Eicon having successfully demonstrated interoperability of its DIVA 2430 and DIVA ADSL USB with equipment from the leading DSLAM vendors, the company's ADSL solutions have been proven to reduce the many installation and configuration problems that the telcos are facing. In addition, Eicon's ADSL products offer consumers and businesses an easy way to take advantage of the speed of ADSL.
"Eicon's continued promotion of DSLAM interoperability will allow ISPs and telephone companies to confidently and easily deploy Eicon's ADSL products, providing users with guaranteed hassle-free connectivity," said Ken Gingrich, Eicon's Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales & Marketing Operations. "By making our ADSL products interoperable with equipment from all the leading DSLAM vendors, we are guaranteeing the ease-of-use and deployment that Eicon products have always been known and recognized for."
