Encouraging diamond count from Twin Mining's Jackson Inlet Property, Baffin Island
TORONTO, June 28 /CNW/ - Twin Mining Corporation ("Twin Mining") (TSE:TWG) is pleased to announce that encouraging diamond counts were obtained from a grab sample scraped from the frozen surface of one of the Jackson Inlet kimberlite pipes. There were 94.52 kg of weathered material recovered, where the pipe was partially free of snow.
The sample analysis, including the micro diamond extraction, selection and description was performed by the Mineralogical Services of Lakefield Research Limited and yielded the following encouraging results:

Of the 42 diamonds, two (2) are macro diamonds. The majority of the diamonds is of gem quality, white and transparent, and shows a high degree of preservation in the +95% range. As previously reported, Helix recovered a 3.5 mm (0.768 carats) white and transparent gem quality diamond and from a 26.45 kg sample of weathered material 15 gem quality diamonds of which two (2) are macro diamonds larger than 1 mm. Associated indicator minerals include G10 garnets. During a recent inspection of the Helix claims, being acquired by Twin Mining, some 40 prospective kimberlite targets with 16 claims covering 26,290 acres were also staked. A full due diligence program on the Helix claims and geological reconnaissance work on the Twin Mining claims will be carried out during the 2000 summer exploration season. Twin Mining, in addition to exploring the TORNGAT diamond prospect on the east side of Ungava Bay in northern Qu‚bec and the Jackson Inlet diamond project on Baffin Island, also holds a gold mining project in Idaho, United States of America. |
