Heinz, the commercials seem to me to be somewhat influenced by momentum also. They were still long on that famous day last fall when the POG rose $26 while the XAU declined. The commercials have gotten burned too on the long side.

If the POG can hold above $290, the commercials may cover their short positions. This is what occurred during the early stages of the Palladium blow off.
