Yes, the "other thing" was very very bad. Here's another "award". It would be nice if for once an award translated to sales which translated to stock price increases...

PictureTel SwiftSite wins Appliance Manufacturer Magazine's Excellence in Design award

ANDOVER, Mass., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- PictureTel Corporation (Nasdaq:PCTL), the world leader in videoconferencing, and GVO, a design firm based in Palo Alto, Calif., have received the Excellence in Design award from Appliance Manufacturer Magazine for SwiftSite(TM), the world's first compact videoconferencing system. SwiftSite earned top honors in the computer/electronics category, which had more than 60 entries, the most of any category.

``Each year the variety of products competing for this award are more innovative and interesting than ever before, making the judges' decisions that much more difficult,'' said Joe Jancsurak, editor of Appliance Manufacturer Magazine. ``The judges chose SwiftSite because of the product's intuitive interface combined with its sculptural form. Overall, this provided for an appealing and effective product.''

The 10th Annual Appliance Manufacturer Magazine Excellence In Design awards were presented in eight categories by an independent panel of judges from the worlds of design and engineering. Three criteria were used to judge the products in each category: aesthetics, ergonomics and the product's uniqueness or innovation of design.

``This is confirmation for PictureTel that SwiftSite is truly a cutting- edge product combining robust functionality with an innovative and user- friendly form,'' said Susan Schrader, senior brand manager for PictureTel's compact systems. ``PictureTel pioneered this brand new category of compact videoconferencing systems and SwiftSite continues to lead the way. We are honored to be recognized by Appliance Manufacturer Magazine with the Excellence in Design award.''

PictureTel, working with GVO, designed SwiftSite to be simple, portable and affordable. In an industry first, the compact system actually sits on top of the TV monitor to which it is connected. It combines PictureTel's industry-leading, standards-based video and audio performance in a small, self-contained unit. SwiftSite weighs less than 10 pounds, is about five inches high and 20 inches wide and uses a single ISDN basic rate interface (BRI) telephone line. SwiftSite's camera, microphone and video and audio compression components are in a fully integrated, one-piece design that is easy to install, operate and transport.

The U.S. list price for SwiftSite is $8,995.
