I'm assuming you are asking FT about the inmates in Illinois last year. If so they were proven innocent of the crimes they were going to be executed for. And executed they were going to be, all the appeals ect. had run out. Just weeks before their injections of sleep away. Now two points here-

1. These guys weren't people you would want as neighbors. No doubt they had gotten away with many other crimes but they didn't do the murders they were convicted of.

2. They were released not from any work through the courts. 6 high school kids studied the trials and evidence 14 years after the trial and found where these 4 guys couldn't have done the deed. After that capital cases that had resulted in guilty verdicts in that jurisdiction were reopened and 8 more wrongful verdicts were tossed.
