Well quite a bit of blasting, maybe not too undeserving so, of II with that article. The author kind of looses lots of credibility with me right from the start we he states "DSPs convert analog signals into digital" (or something close to that).

Maybe for the lay person it is ok to take liberty to a leave out the A/D converter, but ADI also provides lots of converter chips. Time to educate the masses and tell the real story.

I emailed II online and explained the correct terms to them.

Re:Mercury. Lots of competition in VME based, DSP boards. They have some interesting stuff but nothing that, IMO, makes them all that attractive as a investment. I real key in thier market are the programming tool suites. Buy the hardware, but the customer has to program the application. Not sure how they stack up there.

Is ADI overvalued at $90/sh? Well given the growth rates of the DSPs (30-40%) alone, maybe. Converters and AFE (analog front end) chips are doing quite well themselves. DSL and VPN systems are about to rocket higher and ADI is strapped down and ready for the ride up!
Yes, buy at $50/sh. IF it ever dips there in the next two years.
