Intel-Based Servers Powering New Web Site for Xerox Sales, Service Partners
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 2000--Intel Corporation announced today that Intel-based servers are now powering Xerox Corporation's new business-to-business worldwide partner Web site.
The mostly four-way Intel© Pentium III Xeon(TM) based servers have been deployed to manage the diverse product portfolio that Xerox (NYSE:XRX - news) markets to its worldwide sales partners, which include resellers, distributors, retailers and others. Xerox's site, Partner.Xerox.com, includes copier, printer and fax products and related services and supplies. It allows sales and service partners to track and place orders online, find up-to-date product information, locate pricing, and receive personalized information, leads and data in real time.
``Xerox wanted to build a world-class business-to-business online center for its partners so they could get customized information and services when and where they wanted it,'' said Tom Garrison, server marketing manager for Intel. ``Intel-based servers provided the flexibility, choice and scalability to achieve Xerox's goals.''
``Partner.Xerox.com needs to be constantly up and available, easy to manage, and easy to grow with an ever-increasing partner base,'' said Bob Tubbs, Xerox eMarketing manager. ``Using Intel-based servers helped us create a solid e-Business foundation so we could achieve lower costs, higher profits and significantly improved partner satisfaction.''
With industry-leading performance, scalability and lower server acquisition costs available from a variety of equipment manufacturers and application providers, Intel-based servers provided Xerox with ability to personalize, easily manage and grow its online Web information and commerce distribution center.
