Re: "Daniel, yes it was Elmer who complained to SI, after bragging how he got him kicked off by lying the first time"
For the above to be true, we would have to take a person's word for it when they send a complaint. We don't do that. We always personally check into the complaint, and messages that might've led up to what's being complained about. Because of that, the person who complained sometimes finds themselves the surprised bunkmate of the person they were complaining about.
Petz, you ought to know better than to make up crap like this. I have never complained to SI about anyone.
I can vouch for this with a high degree of confidence. In the 2+ years I've been the recipient of the majority of user complaints, today is the first I've heard the name "Elmer", and I don't recall ever hearing a complaint about this thread before. The complaint we received today was about an event we're pretty sure didn't happen (someone named "Albert" getting the boot). I've emailed that person back, asking for a link to Albert's profile so I can double-check.
Threads like this one tend to be worlds unto themselves in the SI universe, and are largely self-correcting, so we try not to interfere unless it's absolutely necessary.
What's apparently considered "the norm" for tolerable levels of vitriol here are a bit beyond my personal conservative limits (things like calling each other "idiots", for example), but since it's being treated as acceptable by so many people here, we're certainly not going to suspend any single individual for doing so.
Any replies via PM, please, so we don't go off on an off-topic tangent.
