The issue of backward and forward compatibility of handsets through the GSM-EDGE-WCDMA migration path will be yet another issue to contend with with tri and quad mode handsets. SP's will need to go with tri and quad mode handsets cdg.org Their is a huge advantage of CDMA 2000 with backward and forward compatibilty to IS 95
