Unique Broadband Systems Expands Russian Market Position
With Additional Wireless Cable Installations

MMDS systems to provide Russian customers with high-speed Internet and data
transmission capabilities

Concord, ON -- June 29, 2000 - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS),
recognized worldwide as a leader in the design, development and manufacture
of broadband wireless solutions, announced today that it has successfully
installed 5 additional MMDS transmission systems in the following cities in
Russia: Yakutsk, Moldova, Ryazan, Vladisvostok and Langhepas. All
equipment is digital ready and upgradeable to permit bi-directional wireless
Internet access. With these installations, UBS has now completed, shipped
and installed 7 MMDS systems in Russia since April 1999. In early 1999, the
company signed contracts to provide MMDS systems to Kishinev, the capital
city of Moldavia, and to KhazaTelecom for the development of a national
digital MMDS system for the transmission of high-speed Internet and data.

Since establishing its presence in 1999, UBS has installed approximately
one-third of all MMDS systems in Russia. The 7 systems currently installed
in Russian cities are located in 7 separate regions in Russia. Management
of UBS is of the view that each region has the potential to accommodate up
to 20 systems. In addition, the surrounding countries also carry the
potential for sales of such systems.

"MMDS technology is experiencing tremendous growth in developing countries
and in countries without an established cable infrastructure, as is the case
with Russia and the surrounding countries," said Alex Dolgonos, President
and CEO, UBS. "It is a cost-effective method of delivering high-speed voice,
video and data to consumers. Our digital and analogue MMDS solutions will
allow service providers to offer high-speed transmission of voice, video and
data to their customers. In terms of the durability of our systems to
operate in extreme weather conditions, one need look no further than the 50
watt transmission system that we shipped to the city of Yakutsk in Northern
Russia. This system is an outdoor unit (complete with heating units to
ensure reliability of performance in sub-zero temperatures) that has been
specifically designed for the harsh climate in that area."

For those businesses that provide telecommunications equipment and/or
solutions, the biggest hurdle to doing business in Russia is obtaining the
approval of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for
Telecommunications and Informatics, which can take up to 2 years in many
cases. Having gone through the approval process, which included lab testing
and field trials on UBS' entire line of MMDS products, UBS obtained this
approval in 1999. The ability to sell in Russia, together with the
completed installation of 7 systems in various regions, will enhance UBS'
ability to demonstrate the functionality, quality and reliability of its
equipment to other potential customers in Russia and the surrounding
countries. As a result, UBS intends to expand its sales and engineering
team in Russia in the near future in order to take advantage of additional
opportunities to generate revenue from this corner of the globe.
