I would agree with you that there is no suggestion by wireless carriers in Europe that they have contemplated the implementation of MC CDMA rather than DS CDMA. However, that is not to say that MC CDMA would not be an infintely better solution that DS CDMA for UMTS based systems and GSM overlay projects. It would save the carriers billions in spectrum costs alone. Also, the time to market with new technology would be 2001 rather than 2003. I won't even bother to mention that MC CDMA has tremendous technological advantages with respect to data speeds and higher voice capacity.
