SNC-Lavalin Signs Contract to Provide Services for Russian Toll Road
MONTREAL, QUEBEC--JUNE 29, 2000--SNC-Lavalin has signed an umbrella contract to provide expert services for feasibility studies, engineering, procurement and project management in the Centralnaya Toll Road Project. The initial section of the toll highway will be a 13-km section in the central Russian city of Samara. Alexandr Latkin, the Vice-Governor of Samara Region and Director of the Department for Buildings, Architecture, Municipal Housing and Roads of the Administration of Samara Region, and Jacques Lamarre, President and Chief Executive Officer of SNC-Lavalin, signed the agreement today in Moscow.
SNC-Lavalin has been active in Russia since 1976 and has carried out projects in the chemicals and petroleum sector, as well as in the construction and development of infrastructure. "We are ideally positioned to provide these services, given our proven experience with toll roads and concession-type activities, particularly since the acquisition, in partnership, of the Highway 407 toll road in the Greater Toronto area," said Mr. Lamarre.
Mr. Lamarre is in Russia participating in the trade mission led by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, and attending the fourth meeting of the Canada-Russia Intergovernmental Economic Commission (IEC), an industry-led bilateral forum that aims to foster trade and economic relations, investment and the transfer of technology between Canada and Russia.
