What's wrong with UT-Austin? It sounds like a great school to me. Austin used to have a wonderful music scene. Maybe that's all in the past - three people I went to high school with moved to Austin, and are still there, and like it.

My husband wants the kids to go away to school, but I don't see anything wrong with them staying home, if they are still interested in computers. Northern Virginia is turning into a mini-Silicon Valley. They can get jobs and learn more on the job than they ever would in class. I am worried that Ben, in particular, won't be ready to be cut loose when he graduates from high school.

Chris gets these idees fixe (please imagine proper punctuation marks). For example, he has announced that, due to the Supreme Court ruling on the Elian matter, he will not be celebrating the Fourth of July this year. I can do the barbecue without him, and take the kids to see fireworks without him.
