Sears Signs Multi-Million Dollar Contract With Lanier

Lanier to Provide Networked Hewlett-Packard Digital Printer/Copiers to Sears Department Stores Across the United States.

ATLANTA, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Lanier Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: LR - news) today announced its selection by Sears, Roebuck and Co., Hoffman Estates, Ill., for a multi-million dollar contract to deliver, install and maintain 869 HP Mopier 240 digital printer/copiers at Sears department stores across the United States. The networked Hewlett-Packard units will replace a variety of aging printers and stand-alone analog copiers.

``We look forward to replacing multiple dot matrix printers and stand-alone analog copiers at each location with the networked capabilities and increased efficiencies of these digital printer/copier units,'' said Michael LeRoy, Director, Retail Systems for Sears. ``We also are pleased to be combining the strengths of Hewlett- Packard equipment with Lanier's nationwide customer service.''

Paul Anderson, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing for Lanier, also noted, ``This latest sales and service contract builds on our 17-year association with Sears, one that's based on providing them with the best possible document management solutions.''

The Mopier 240 units utilize HP's network management utility (WebJet Admin) which will allow Sears to communicate with each of the new devices from its home office. The Mopier 240 also offers the advantage of a higher duty cycle (up to 130K/month) than others on the market.``

Manufactured by Hewlett-Packard, each Mopier 240 functions both as a digital printer and full-function copier. When integrated into an office's digital network, the innovative device allows office staff to make copies directly from a command screen on their desktop computers -- so they can copy, collate, and duplex without even being in the same room as the copier. This eliminates the walk-and-wait time loss of traditional copying, since all print and copy commands can be made without leaving one's desk.
