Strange market ( seems I have been saying that since April 98 -ggg- )

Anyone notice that the VIX is at a new low today despite the DOW losing 120 and the NASDAQ big boys getting creamed. Buy the dipsters are still a majority???

A lot of tape painting at the close. I was watching EMC all day and it dipped hard to 72 13/16 looking like it was going to collapse then all of a sudden going into the close it gains over a point. Someone with brass cahones could have made a nice scalp there in a matter of minutes. This market is not looking good. TRIN hit 1.3 again near the close. They are selling it harder than the indexes are showing. The question is who is selling and are they right?

I have been wanting to go long for 3 days yet I have yet to pull a trigger or get filled. This just smells all wrong et I can't bet on a down move this early. I agree with Don that next week is a better time for that. I am worried though that if we don't get the boucne soon, we won't be high enough to get a good down move.

The weakness in CSCO, the lagging of SUNW and the weakness in many of the other gorrillas is still the MAJOR sign I see of something wrong. In ALL past market activity that I can recall of this bull, they were the first to move up, they are no longer doing so. Either one or more of them have problems we don't know about yet ( but others do) or else we are no longer in the same type of market we have enjoyed over the last few years. Maybe this time really is different. <gggg>

*OT* I am curious how many machines everyone here runs to trade. I have been having serious problems with low resources on my machine when trying to follow SI, run quote.com charts, Quote tracker, have my broker screen up and then try to paste a link or something. I am running an AMD 500 with 128 SDRAM and I crash soon as I either try to bring another screen up or paste a story. Any suggestions or do I just need to run 2-3 machines?

Good Luck,

Lee
