Sad but true

Unfortnately both Ellison and McNealy have been obsessed with trying to bring down Bill Gates for many years. It has completely colored their world view to the point that they have become blind to the real threats to their own franchises. As is so often the case, this is therefore a self-correcting character flaw.

Ironically, a century from now Bill Gates will likely be regarded as one of the greatest philanthropists of all time while Ellison and McNealy are more likely to be remembered as the Goulds and Fisks of their age. The biblical admonishment that as ye sow so shall ye reap seems apt here.
