Luc and gang:

Allow me a small observation. I do not think it a good idea to ban posters from a thread especially one that is as rollicking as this one is. Yes I understand that putting up with arrogance and snide remarks is a cost of maintaining an open environment, and yes, I have found myself snarling and bristling at the comments of some, but isn't an open discussion why we all come to the net?

Don't get me wrong,.... some of the posters who have been banned have more than irritated me, but I still think we all benefit from listening to the other guy's comments, even when they appear or actually are dumb. Besides which, it is the ensuing comments and argument that help to underline that which is stupid and that which is not.

An additional consideration; Anyone joining the posting on this thread knows in advance that it is not a place for the meek and that ideas and arguments that are weak will be trashed forthwith.

While they may be irritating, we actually need the likes of BGR and Voltaire over here to stir our thinking as well as our adrenalin.

My vote is that we open the thread up to all, even the jotts. Seems to me it is sort of an American tradition anyway.

Best, Earlie
