Bill Joy wrote the original BSD TCP/IP stack. I would assume that that wasn't too different than the SunOS stack (Bill Joy?) and later Solaris (Bill Joy? <g>). You know, now that I think of it, I don't know why it's not called the 'Bill Joy stack', and for that matter, JOYNIX. <g> --- I too am fond of FreeBSD, understand it to be a superior server OS and *the thing to run on an Intel box. I note they just (finally) came out with Java 1.2 for FreeBSD. I'm looking forward to the current version to be deemed 'stable' --- Say, I have a technical question about BSD and Java: Does it have a threading model similar to Linux or one similar to Solaris or neither, or what? I guess what I'm getting at is, is FreeBSD potentially a superior Java platform to Linux? -JCJ
