Even at tonight's price, this is pretty impressive!
Today's snailmail brought my Janus Equity Funds' 2000 Semiannual Report. It indicates that Janus Funds increased its ownership interest in Softbank by 3,259,100 shares between April 30, l999 and April 30, 2000!!!
The l999 report showed Janus Worldwide Fund held 262,800 shares and the Overseas Fund held 309,100. Period.
Janus' 2000 report shows 1,012,500 shares in the Janus Fund, 359,400 in Janus Global Technology Fund, 695,100 in the Janus Overseas Fund and 1,764,000 in the Janus Worldwide Fund.
Total shares held across the four funds was 3,831,000. This reported as of April 30, 2000 at a total US$945,299,447. ($246.75 per share) With split factored in, Janus had to have purchased LOTS of additional shares during the year.
Janus Funds are always ranked in the top tier of US mutual funds. I find it interesting to know that they have (or had?) a nearly billion dollar bet on our baby!
At least we know we're in good company... Regards,
P.S. Wonder if they've held??? |
