Fuzion Wireless Unleashes High Speed Internet Access in Tampa BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 2000--
South Florida-Based Fuzion Extends Its Broadband Network Into Tampa Fuzion Wireless Communications, Inc., a leader in fixed wireless broadband solutions, has launched its high-speed wireless network in Tampa, empowering local businesses to take advantage of the full power of the Internet.
The company's broadband network is fully scaleable, enabling local businesses to access bandwidth-intensive services such as video-conferencing, streaming media, interactive remote applications and data networking at speeds of one-half to 155 megabits per second - several hundred times faster than a dial up modem.
Fuzion's wireless network has been tested in the most demanding conditions, including Hurricanes Irene, Dennis and Floyd and Tropical Storm Harvey and was successful in moving data between its wireless hubs without any interruptions in signal. This high level of reliability is especially important in Tampa, a city prone to heavy rainfall and extreme weather.
"The launch of our wireless network in Tampa underscores Fuzion's commitment to make reliable, high-speed Internet access available to small and mid-sized businesses nationwide," said Dave Frank, president, Fuzion. "These customers will gain Internet access that is fast, reliable and scaleable with the bandwidth to support the most intensive data and video applications."
"By utilizing advanced wireless technology, Fuzion avoids the limitations of the traditional telecommunications infrastructure and can deploy a new system in about a week," said Kevin Bitz, vice president/ general manager Southeast region, Fuzion. "This flexibility makes our solution extremely attractive to small- and medium-sized businesses in Tampa and throughout the nation."
The Fuzion Broadband Network is being constructed as a last-mile extension of today's international fiber optic backbone, utilizing the latest switching gear and radio equipment technologies. Fuzion is deploying its network with the Adaptive Broadband (TM) (Nasdaq: ADAP) AB-Access (TM) wireless service equipment and utilizing the unlicensed National Information Infrastructure (U-NII) radio band to transmit Internet data. The U-NII consists of three frequency bands of 100MHz each in the 5.8 GHz range.
