From a summary post at Aces yesterday:

Thanks to Jan Mahler for sending in this ZDNET special report on AMD SledgeHammer . According to the report, AMD revealed at
PC EXPO that "the hammer" will debut at 2 Ghz, with samples available to major PC makers in Q1 2001. The 64-bit "hammer" is expected
to due out towards the end of 2001. Before Sledgehammer starts hammering away however, AMD will first introduce the Mustang core, now
known as Corvette, in H2 this year. The Mustang core will be featured in a whole of processor products including those for desktop, mobile,
workstation and server. The desktop chips will be available in both Duron and Athlon flavors, while the server chip will be called Athlon
Ultra, a brand name AMD has been including in its processor roadmaps since the launch of the original K7. Higher-end Mustangs are
expected to debut at around 1.3 Ghz.

If rumors are true, Intel will release Pentium 4 in early August at 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4 Ghz. AMD will need 1.3 Ghz Mustang by early Q4 to maintain their momentum. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Pravin.
