Verve: While I'm sure others are developing/modifying 2G into 2.5 G (eg. GPRS,EDGE, etc.), there is specific mention of WCDMA for 3G. If you start with evaluation of the NOKIA agreement/alliance with IDCC executed a couple of years ago, you will discover there is an engineering agreement to work together on development of WCDMA. I believe this alliance will eventually culminate in the realization that these parties represent the leading edge for the WCDMA in 3G.
Hope this gives you a lead.
