Applied Materials Inc. (AMAT) said its outlook for the remainder of fiscal 1997 continues to be positive, and it expects increasing demand for its products as its customers ramp up production lines.
The company said its third-quarter results will reflect an $80 million payment from Novellus Systems Inc. (NVLS) for the previously-reported settlement of a lawsuit. As reported, Novellus will also pay ongoing royalties subsequent to the date of the settlement.
