News from Gateway... Date: 06/30 23:43 EST Gateway opens door for Rambus in PCs, workstations Jun. 30, 2000 (Electronic Buyers News - CMP via COMTEX) -- Gateway Inc. last week at the PC Expo in New York showed a new line of E-4400 enterprise PCs that replaces SDRAM components with Direct Rambus DRAM. Sources said the switch came as a result of Intel Corp.'s free-replacement program whereby recalled 820 motherboards could be swapped for boards using Direct RDRAM. While San Diego-based Gateway's previous E-4400 PCs used SDRAM, the company is also switching to Rambus in its workstation line, which wasn't subject to the Intel recall. ebnonline.com
