| There are a lot of things that cause night sweats, some you probably don't have, like TB and Hodgkin's disease. One thing might be sleep apnea, apparently the struggle to breathe can make you too warm. I get night sweats when I drink too much, and when I am under a lot of stress. If I go for a walk in the evening, I don't usually get them that night. When I wake up in the night, I drink milk and eat saltine crackers. By the time I finish a large glass of milk and about half a wax paper package of saltines, I usually feel sleepy again. I also have several different pills I can take, but they make me groggy in the morning. Plain old Benadryl, the antihistamine, works well. I wouldn't take it at three a.m., but I'd take it at 1 a.m. One pill, if I take two I get a paradoxical stimulated effect that is just horrible. Too sleepy to get up, too stimulated to sleep, I just thrash around for hours. |
