Board, regarding Oracle's Lane

Do you think that someone as successful as he has been over the last 8 or so years and after having made the money he has during that time would be satisfied in being someone's subordinate, irrespective of the company? All the big roles at Compaq are taken.

I personally think he will try to look for an opportunity where the top guy is missing, or possibly even try to work on a fancy and promising start up opportunity. His core competency spans his industry (software) and he is a hands-on kind of guy. Therefore, my guess is he will go to another software company with a bright future.

I don't think the issue is as much money as it is ego. Moreover, I do not think he is going to do it in less than a couple of months anyway, and more than likely 4-6 months at least, if he decides to re-enter the work force, unless the offer that is made is irresistable.
