"2nd Quarter in Review--What's Hot & Cold" by Morning Star...

news.morningstar.com

>>>Turbulent market takes turns to remember.

What a difference a quarter makes. During the first three months of the year technology stocks and funds that finished 1999 on a tear were still all the rage. What followed in the subsequent period was enough to enrage the most imperturbable tech investor.

Volatility was the word during the second quarter. In this quarter's wrap-up Morningstar sorts through debris shaken loose by the market's gyrations and tells you which stocks and funds in our various groupings were left standing and which got their comeuppance. Check out which fund categories-for example specialty-natural resources--best weathered the Nasdaq's slide into bear territory. Or find out which companies bore the brunt of the selling.

As usual, Morningstar's analysts and writers supply a dash of perspective to the data with their review of the news and trends of the quarter.

If you need more information on particular stocks or funds, don't be afraid to scope out our stock and fund analyses. (If you’re not a premium member, click here for a 30-day free trial.) This is where our analysts dissect each investment performance and expose their virtues and warts.<<<
