That is my opinion to. IMO, DT would follow the same upgrade path VOD did with Verizon. Same if France Telecom. No carrier would rip out a state of the art national network.

The upside of a DT or FT acquisition is that it would speed the delivery of GSM/CDMA handsets for roaming (Q revenue from EU), and give Qualcomm more clout with the EU, ETSI, 3GPP.

I have to admit that I have mixed emotions about total foreign ownership of both major national CDMA nets, but Verizon is steaming along VERY nicely.

It is highly likely that had WCOM been successful in purchasing UMTS spectrum in the EU that they would have built out UMTS UTRA DS there (even if regulatory issues prevented other), IMO.

My concern at the moment that with the defection of the Sprint PCS CEO, whether Oliver Valente can keep momentum going for going for an early cdma2000 migration.
