(((We need AT&T as much as AT&T needs the Q)))

I think you over estimate the importance of T and AWE.

As long as Verizon and Sprint remain on track, I think all will be well in the U.S. long term.

T and AWE are trying to manage shareholder expectations - trying to kep the balls in the air - and they can do so as long as voice is primary. As data (and competing bandwidth) become primary, T and AWE will be in a world of hurt. (T has placed a big bet on cable for bandwidth.)

Management will not take the big hit now for wireless upgrades - not part of their "story" to shareholders. They're climbing into a hole from which they may never escape, and relegating themselves to third-class status in perpetuity.
