Steve,

I have daily headaches from dealing insurance companies as well. I believe patient demand will make the laser the standard of care in the next few years. I doubt that I am unique in having had a bad experience with inadequate local anesthesia during a dental visit. You know the one: your in the chair and the dentist is drilling away. You have a white-knuckle-death grip on the arm rest and sweat is pouring down your forehead. Then the dentist asks did you feel that?
Personally, I would seach for the insurance company which covers the procedure and the dentist who has the laser and has been trained on how to use it. Yes, if necessary I would pay for it.

John
