That's a good point. But I don't need a crystal ball to realize Juan never had an opportunity. He may truly have never wanted to see the relatives. We will never know because our government prevented even the possibility of it from happening. The reason they did is because they made a pact with Fidel. What the details of that pact are we may never know for years. Or ever.

After all, why did our government change its initial position and not allow the case to be handled in family court? Politics, pure and simple. Either, Fidel threatened to release a bunch of convicts again, or a different deal was made. But it's pretty clear by the lock-step way in which the two governments worked together, that some deal was brokered.

Yes, I believe honestly admitting you bias as a news organization is (on balance) better than hiding your bias and pretending you're not biased. News max doesn't produce a bias free paper probably because the market is much larger for that point of view on the net. But I don't really know, you could ask them.

Why doesn't CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC provide a balanced journalistic approach? Especially since FOX news which comes the closest IMO is gaining market share so effectively? The biggest factor I believe is cultural. Tough to change a culture of reporters which voted nearly 90% for Clinton in the last election to now be open minded.
