[ADI & AMTX]

Considering today's USRX news, I would think AMTX would like to announce the ADI arrangement as soon as the ink is dry. Pat any insight to press release on this.

It's amazing how fast & furious everything is moving now. Interop seems to have ignited a mad rush of ADSL deployment.

In my mind the most important information of the last week was the public confirmation that most of the players (with the noteable exceptions of Westell and Globespan) have agreed to backwards compatibility with Issue I of ANSI T1.413.

Effectively, this reduces the CAP/DMT agruement to a footnote in DSL implementaion. Additionally most everybody has now publicly come out and decided to play ball with AMTX's standards. This includes AWARE.

If I were USRX and could find a company willing to give their technology away like Aware I'd bypass AMTX as well. I believe that Aware's strategy is simply to get as many deals as possible and let the chips (pun intended) fall where they may. The old shotgun approach.

If indeed the TI chip has begun production quantities this will be the lynch pin to the "summer of ADSL". Expect cold calls from your brokers shortly whipering ADSL in your ear.

Motorola may bemissing the boat if their chip won't be ready to the fall. With production quantities of chips, the last hurdle to deployment announcements will be passed. The modem orders for Q1 &Q2 must be placed with the next 3 months after this for manufacturing deadline purposes.

To think that many on this board would have traded their shares for a cold slice of pizza just 2 weeks ago!
