I know what you mean, BMFM. I look at each IPO and if I think it has some long term potential, I'll play. I was fortunate enough to get BKHM at $30.50 (I had a limit in for $50) So I guess it works both ways. Nevertheless, I felt STLW was worth $42 12 months out, so I plan to hold.
The other sore spot with me is Fidelity. I rarely get IPOs. They'll give gizelle 300 shares and me a laugh on the other end of the line. Reminds me of that commercial when the guy at the bank asked the loan officer if he could get 4% interest. I want to hold a year or 2 out, and gizelle wants to flip at 15 days. But I couldn't even get 50 miserable shares at the IPO price. I've been with Fidelity since I began trading, and longer in retirement accounts.
