Sonny, also realize that the "healthy" dog was overcharging America for phone calls since dog's years. Could you ever have imagined paying 10 cents a minute anytime, anywhere in 1997 dollars?? You and would have gone sick with higher prices paying for somebody's else's health.

Exactly the same thing is happening in PC processor market. We are paying very high for our PCs just because Intel decides to charge too much for the chip. Everything else inside a PC (software is another stort for another time on another thread) is pretty much a commodity now a days. We keep on seeing tremendous improvements in modems, graphics, storage, etc. because companies in those markets have to innovate to survive.

Intel does not have to. That is why we see a speed of 200 MHz and go ga-ga. Workstation market have already achieved these speeds long ago.
