Dot Wireless - These guys developed an IS95 chip and software for VLSI several years ago. I believe they sold the IP to VLSI which was never able to get any sales from it. Dot has since been working on CDMA2000(1X) chip and software. My best estimate is that they are at least 6 months behind Q in their 1X development. I doubt that the 1X work is the reason TI bought Dot. TI needs help with WCDMA and will use Dot engineers for this development. Dot, IMO is not a company that can pioneer a technology but one that may be able to implement a spec. Therefore, I don't believe this combo will be focussed on "designing around" Q's WCDMA patents.
