That i don't know, and it is a very good question ... the change will be especially difficult where one party has ruled for seven decades ... it wasn't so much a political party as a governing system ... which it still is until December, and will be for a long time in some places - my viewpoint is from an ejido over half an hour from anything that could be called a city, and in places like that the PRI was and will remain synonymous with government ... although now that there is a change maybe the fear of change that kept the blinders on will abate somewhat ... actually i think it will ... it'll be interesting to see who quietly takes down the PRI colors from their walls -g-
There won't be any big changes in policy, imho ... foreign, economic, etc i mean ... but internal structure, wow ... the most scarey story you ever heard on the narcotraficantes understates the case, imho ... there may come the equivalent of the Nurnberg Trials on that and other corruption, i think that's a major concern from current connected priístas.
I'd like to see him involve some of Cárdenas' people, and select a few of the less tainted priístas as well ... he's shown that he can keep together an alliance, and he has five months to prepare [takes over 1 Dec, i think] ... there's hope, imho, but yes it will be hard .... it's the best of all possible alternatives ... which is not to say he's perfect, he's a long ways from it imho [i'm queasy about the religion thing and the lack of definition of his policies - too much image imho, we have no idea really what's behind it] ... but he is the presidente, we shall see. |
