Dear James, Sorry but I have never seen a post I disagree with more than this one. We can just go by the words of Jesus to disprove preterism.
Matthew 24 The Lord talking about the end of the age and his second coming. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Was the gospel preached in the whole world and all nations in 70AD?
15 thru 22 are discussing the destruction coming upon Jerusalem then verse 23.
23 At that time anyone that says to you Look here is the CHrist or There He is, DO NOT BELIEVE IT. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great miracles to deceive even the elect if it were possible. 25 See I have told you ahead of time. 26 So if anyoone tells you There He is out in the desert, do not go out: or, Here He is , in the inner rooms, DO NOT BELIEVE IT. 27 FOR AS LIGHTNING THAT COMES FROM THE EAST AND IS VISIBLE EVEN IN THE WEST SO WILL THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN. in 29 He says immefiately after the distress (Jerusalem 70AD) He then goes on to describe the future events leading to His return. After the sun is darkened and the moon will not give its light the stars fall and heaven is shaken This clearly has not yet happened then verse 30 At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky and all the Nations of the earth will mourn. They willsee the Son of Man coming on the clouds with power and great glory. In verse 32 that seems to be the only support for preterism, the destruction He mentioned did happen in their time and the Holy SPirit did come to bring in the Kingdom but the sun. moon and stars and the return of the Lord have not. The entire Nations did not know the Lord at 70AD it was mostly Jews at that time.
According to the words of Jesus I should not believe the claims that He came at that time. Mark and Luke repeat the same warnings against false teaching of His return.
<<Will you tell me that the hope of the church was a delusion. Will you tell me that the teachings of the Apostles was in error? Will you tell me that the predictions of Jesus was only a dream at best?>>
What hope is there? He already came and this is the Messianic Kingdom Jesus spoke of, there is no hope in that. The Apostles were correct I question the men and theology you believe abilty to discern their teachings. Jesus Himself said that He will come in a cloud of Glory and all people will see Him. That is my hope James. The Holy SPirit coming into the world was a major event and Jesus said He would send the comforter. The Holy SPirit amd Jesus are one in the Father and that was the return that happened in their lifetime.
James the Parousia is a creation of men and is dangerous, to say He came at that time was warned against by Jesus.
<<I assume that when you married into the Jewish race, that Alan and his relatives in Israel taught you that God will show favor to them abd they will have a literal Temple of Jerusalem with Christ and the Apostles residing there. As a Messianic Christian, do you have to follow the priests at the Synagoues and do they tell you these things and are you still commanded to be kosher, and to do no work over the Sabbath. Can you even eat a piece of grain or cook food. Who answers the telephone on Sabbath? Is that not work. Do they have those out side the faith run the hospitals, ambulances, and flights that come and go>>
I can see you are only trying to insult in these questions and that you have almost no knowledge of what you are asking. My father was Jewish so I had been in Judaism as a child and was familiar with it before meeting Alan. I will be honest and say that the Church is more harsh and has more rules than the Jewish exposure I have had. Alan and I enjoy the freedom Jesus gave us and have a peaceful happy life in the Lord together. The Sabbath for us is a time to love the Lord with all our heart, soul mind and strength.
<<Maybe this is why you come against me on so may differences in worshipping Christ? I am sad if it does. You are a wonderful person and we both should agree to discuss these things without animousity or to drop them all together so that we may be covil and loving toward one another.>> James read what you said before this, it is full of animosity to me and Alan.
<<May your love of Christ greatly protect you from creeds made by man.>> I pray this for you as well.
May the Lord fill you with His peace, Nancy |
