NEW YORK, Jun. 30 (Standard & Poor's) - Many investors like to pick up deeply depressed stocks for recovery over a period of time. Others, including those with shorter-term objectives, prefer to buy the recent winners, assuming they will remain in demand in the period ahead. Often, the "story" that keeps a stock up in price in a choppy market such as the one this year proves to be the force that propels it ahead when the general investment climate improves.
We searched our database for stocks that recently were selling within 10% of their 52-week highs, that are expected to post earnings gains this year of at least 10% and that carry five-STARS rankings from S&P analysts (indicating expected superior market performance over the next 12 months).
