Formus Communications Signs Content Distribution Agreement With Digital Island
E-Business Delivery Network Will Distribute Third-Party Content On the Formus Network

DENVER, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Formus Communications Inc., a European broadband communications services provider, today announced an agreement with Digital Island Inc. (Nasdaq: ISLD - news) to implement Footprint(TM) its global content management and distribution network over the Formus Communications platform. Digital Island, a leading Global e-Business Delivery Network, provides content delivery services that optimize routing and accelerate download times worldwide. Financial terms of the agreement were not released.
Digital Island will cache and distribute third-party content services through a network of servers that will be co-located at key points in the Formus Communications network. This will allow high-speed delivery of content to customers as well as e-Business services. Digital Island's e-Business Delivery Network provides a superior end-user experience worldwide that is fast, guaranteed and relevant.
Digital Island will deploy servers at selected Formus Communications locations and affiliate networks. The server clusters will be connected to high-speed routers at the network ``edge''.

In the United Kingdom, Formus Communications recently received a public telecoms operator license. Formus Communications is operating trial BWA projects in Belgium, France and Hungary under temporary governmental authority.
Formus Communications is also a shareholder in VeloCom Inc., an international communications company with fixed wireless interests in Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay.
