Before it's introduction AMD said they "might" be able to use Alpha SMP boards with a BIOS switch because of their use of the EV6 bus/port architecture. I think it's possible they were right but there is an SMP bug in Athlon and that's what prevents us from seeing SMP systems. The chipsets in development are more cost effective alternatives but Athlon needs to be fixed too. Speculation on my part but reasonable. EP
