Wily,

Two unrelated remarks...

First, maybe a SNDK/SSTI stock swap is in order?
The synergy would seem to be great in the combined company.

Second, do you have any idea how SNDK's transition to 256Mbit manufacturing affects their ability to make 8 and 16 MB CompactFlash cards? I mean, do they just leave half or three-quarters of the silicon unused?

In the medical device business I understand that companies will manufacture a single device (for argument's sake, a pacemaker) with the same specs (all the bells and whistles are included in every device) and then use firmware to disable features. In doing so a single assembly line is achieved for the whole array of products. The lower end devices cost less, but have more features "turned off" while the upper end devices are "fully enabled".

Do you think SNDK does the same thing with their flash cards?

Just wondering.
