Glenn, this is what BW thinks Bezos needs to do.
Like I've said here many times before, I think Bezos should use the Costco model, and charge all its loyal customers an annual fee for the convenience of shopping there.
I know our Randy E would pay that fee, and probably Billy Harmond would too.<vbg>

Big Jobs for Bezos

Will Amazon ever be in the black? To get there, it needs to bolster revenues and improve operations--fast. Here's what it must do:

-- Increase efficiencies in distribution and customer-service centers by reducing headcount and installing new computer systems and automation gear

-- Open more new stores on its site to provide greater selection and draw more customers

-- Persuade customers to turn to Amazon to buy more than books and music

-- Demonstrate savvier merchandising, from anticipating product demand to personalizing offers to individual customers

-- Sign up more e-merchant partners to bring in high-profit revenue
