Greg: I agree with you. What is scarry is that DEC truly is an innovator and I doubt that they would pursue this suit unless there was real validity. The question is can the US protect creativity anymore? We have not with MicroSoft and therefore I do not think they will do it with Intel. However, there is one major difference, MSFT has major investments in treasury bills; INTC does not; therefore the question is will the political and legal system give as much favored status to Intel as they have to MicroSoft? If Intel invests some of their large horde in treasuries, as MSFT has, they will probably get a favorable decision; if they do not they could very well be in trouble. The implications, however, go beyond that; are we as a society going to continue to allow corporations to steal ideas if their financial might is large enough? Are we going to destroy innovation at the expense of the almighty dollar? In the long term we will be economically destroyed if we continue to allow the stealing of ideas (property) by financially powerfull organizations who can manipulate and exploit our political and regulatory organizations.
