[Amati for cold pizza. . .]

<<<Motorola may bemissing the boat if their chip won't be ready to the fall. With production quantities of chips, the last hurdle to deployment announcements will be passed. The modem orders for Q1 &Q2 must be placed with the next 3 months after this for manufacturing deadline purposes. . . . To think that many on this board would have traded their shares for a cold slice of pizza just 2 weeks ago!>>>

With the revised information, we can push those production dates back where they were, except for the fact we know USRX is talking first half 1998. Now a careful analysis of the conference revealed something else. USR is talking about the hybrid modem being available first half '98 at which time users "can upgrade to DSL at their leisure." Does this mean they'll buy the X2DSL modem with a promised DSL upgrade -- the same marketing strategy as the 33.3 to 56K upgrade --- giving them yet more time to bring a DSL solution to market????

The more I know, the more I'm beginning not to like these guys.

I'll see if I can talk to Greg Waters tomorrow.

Cheers!

Pat
