convince me
Well.. First, I am no good at convincing.
Second, what I mean is that the extreme conservative, no longer hold the support of the great majority in the US. Don't forget that minorities are growing in a stealth way which waters down said support to the conservative agenda.
I also believe that the show-down(s) between the Hamas wing of the Republican party and Clinton i.e. (1) the government shut-down. (2) The Clinton/witch hunt/impeachment exposed the true face of these fundamentalist Ayatolas Arsaholas of the American political fauna. This has reduced their support. As X has stated, the great silent majority do not seem to be as radical as the conservatives.
Technology will also be of assistance, in the past I believe there have been a lot of people that simply did not have access to important information that hopefully will awaken some of those "silent majority" and become more independent thinking. Vaccinated against imbecility.
I never said, it has disappeared, unfortunately I doubt that it will ever happen. There are far too many idiots out there. Their polyester brains are easy targets for a quick "wash and wear" by the conservawackos.
So, I guess the war will never be over, unfortunately idiots reproduce faster than free-thinking people. Another reason yet why they oppose abortion.
In addition, the use of mule blinders, (aka as rose colored glasses), work for the free-thinkers... in "mysterious ways", that is to say the conservawackos can not see reality the way it truly is. So, in a way it handicaps them.
Now... around the world... Conservatives are losing ground.. not to Communists, but more to free-thinking and free markets minded individuals. The good part is that common American knowledge for foreign affairs is minimal. [small wonder they screw up so often *g*].
Example... for someone to say that the PRI deafeat is the "tidal wave of conservatism sweeping across Mexico", simply goes to show the absolute ignorance about the subject, AND a desire to turn things and place them under your favorite color-by-number picture. A classic example of wanting to see factual events, through rose colored glasses ?
Just because Fox has a connection with the church, it does NOT mean that that a tidal wave of conservatism has hit the country... Indeed, the man was governor of Guanajuato (one of the most religion-infected states in old Mexico), yet, I do not see the seat of the inquisition having being re-established there.
The man faces a mountain of problems far greater than the power of the church could "sweep" these problems. Is it a potential trouble area ? yes of course, but by far, it is not a "given event".
If Fox has any smarts... (which so far he seems to have shown it), he will have to compromise in many areas... consensus building will be the norm (I think). Believe me there are lots of people with totally diffrent agendas that see this opportunity to break the R.I.P. (PRI in reverse... Rest In Peace *g*), strong hold they enjoyed for years. Unions, Sindicatos de Campesinos, workers, etc. etc.. It is payback time. Extreme conservatism caused this situation, and like the pendulum of politics, it will now swing the other way. How far ? I do not know.
Look at Venezuela, Chavez is no bastion of Conservatism sweeping Venezuela...(another example).
I can not convince you Karen... it is simply that I believe there is a higher chance of success for leaders that apply a "consensus building" approach that those jumping on a high horse and start dictating their dogma as conservawackos tend to do.
However, the reality is that the success of a society depends on the active participation of all concerned, under an environment of reason. Free-thought and free-markets seems to work the best. Will they succeed ? I do not know... it depends... I have no crystal ball. (if I did, I certainly would not use it for the political channel, I would use it for personal financial gain. Remember ? After all, I am a Capitalist greedy pig --OINK-- Screw the politicians and their cohorts, the bureaucrats *g*).
OTOH.... Let the conservawackos believe they are gaining power, dellusion is their favorite sport.
p.s. I just realized that FOX means ZORRO
So the headlines should be:
"EL ZORRO RETURNS TO GOVERN OLD MEXICO" HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.
In the end, Don Vicente, better take a look at the Anthony Hopkins and Antonio Banderas Flick for some political guidence... HA HA HA... etc. |
