I don't think the Jesuits were leaders in burning witches -- a little late on the scene. They played a role in burning heretics -- a different ball of wax. Many Jesuits (and their converts) were burned themselves, especially in Japan in the 17th Century. The leaders in oppression in the West were the Dominicans, especially St. Dominic himself. The Franciscans were sometimes inquisitors, but at least in the 13th and 14th centuries many Franciscans went to the pyre themselves.
Protestants became important witch burners in the 16th century just out of the blocks. Luther expected to be burned at Worms, as had Hus and Wyclif's bones been burned. And, of course, the Puritans -- Christians after your own heart -- were active in hanging Quakers and the Salem Witches.
