Re: It looks like to me that Gateway is the only vendor selling any Tbirds... Herb, Gateway is AMD's only major BTO for a little longer. The other guys have to finish moving their old SKUs through the distribution chain before the new ones start showing up. I would like to see some other Thunderbird SKUs, but if Intel longs can wait 6 months for 850 and higher PIIIs, I guess I'll have to be willing to wait another week or two to see some Thunderbirds on the shelves. I was at Comp USA today - they have 1GHZ boxes from HP and Compaq on the shelves. Both at $2,299 with 60 gig hard drives. The fastest PIII was an 866MHZ Sony with a 40 gig hard drive for $2,399. Otherwise the configurations looked pretty similar. I didn't check price differentials at other speeds, but I would guess they are similar for other mid and high end machines. There were customers looking at the HPs and the Compaqs, no one was by the Sonys (at least while I was observing). But it's not surprising. Who would want to pay more for a slower machine with a smaller hard drive? Dan
