Frank, thread - Recently, the subject of a new (well, not new) networking technique came up. Again, my reaction was sceptical: 'That's no way to run a phone system.'

Obviously, I didn't 'get' it. I still don't. The prospect of my battery being used up by Ray's frivolous schoolgirl transmitting her doodles to 150 friends does nothing for me. To what extent is this architecture designed to supplant (or to parallel) traditional cellular architecture?

I think the concept is called 'mesh' networking.

Regards,

Jim
