Elmer what is your basis? 900Mhz to 700Mhz T-birds work in same MB, but 1000Mhz doesn't. It's either

1. a power issue
2. a trace run length (timing) that could involve parasitic oscillations, ringing on A data bus, harmonics in relations to the FSB and CPU clock, Components that have low tolerances.

You haven't provided any ideas, except the L2 doesn't touch the MB, which is incorrect. Data flows from a trace on the MB to the L2 and it's Synchronous Data which gets it's clock from where? (I surmise the MB)
